Junichi Satoh was born and raised in Tokyo and moved to Seattle, WA in 1987. Since then, he has worked as a sous chef, a waiter, a guitar player, a plumber, a logging crew, a carpenter, a mac lab technician, a house cleaner and painter, a secretary, a personal shopper, a rock climbing instructor, a type setter for a newspaper, etc. He is currently a farmer, a teacher, and a designer. He received his BFA in Graphic Design and Master’s degree in Architecture, both from Rhode Island School of Design where he served as an adjunct faculty member for 4 years. He also taught at the University of Georgia, State University of New York, and China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. He serves as a guest critic at Columbia University, Cooper Union, and Pratt institute. He has taught in or taken students to China, Japan, and Italy. As a designer, he creates family dwellings, restaurants, and clothing. His works have been featured in publications such as New York Times, Interior Design magazine, and Elle Decor. With his business partners, he owns and runs a clothing store and two restaurants in Tokyo.
