The Center for Community Growth and Change (CCGC) is a focal point for the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities to study the issues related to growth and community development and to assist South Carolina and the Southeastern region better understand how these issues affect the future.South Carolina and the southeastern U.S. are experiencing rapid population growth as well as economic and land development. The physical, economic and social effects of this growth often outpace state and local capacities.

   

The center will provide applied research, education, and technical assistance to government, the private sector development community, and the general citizenry of the State of South Carolina and the Southeast. Furthermore, the Center will serve as a public service and applied research laboratory for Clemson students. Clemson University contains many of the disciplines related to land use, design, construction, and development as well as the broader perspective of the humanities and arts enriching community life. The College of AAH has a rich tradition of outreach and public service. The Center for Community Growth and Change will provide a strategic umbrella for various research, educational and service efforts of the CAAH and the University with an overall mission of encouraging quality community growth. It will provide additional depth to the University’s public service efforts in the areas of Economic and Community Development and Environmental Conservation. Among its many areas of expertise, CAAH has particular proficiency in design, growth management, environmental policy, land development, construction, health care, and cross-cultural understanding. The CCGC will be instrumental in the future quality of the conomic development of the southeast region and State of South Carolina.
