Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Jimmy Sanderson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Clemson University. He maintains an active research agenda that explores the influence of social media on media, organizations, identity, and social/parasocial interaction, in the context of sports. He also is developing research that explores health and safety issues in sports. His research has appeared in outlets such as International Journal of Sport Communication, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Mass Communication and Society, Southern Communication Journal, and Western Journal of Communication. He is also the author of It's A Whole New Ballgame: How Social Media is Changing Sports published by Hampton Press. He currently serves as the interim director for the pending Sports Communication major. Prior to joining Clemson, Dr. Sanderson worked in Human Resources Management in the non-profit sector for 11 years. He loves sports, is a huge Texas Rangers Fan and Clemson sports fan and once spring hits, you can usually find him at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. You can also find him on Twitter @Jimmy_Sanderson
