Dr. Karyn Ogata Jones (Ph.D., Mass Communication, University of Georgia) has been a member of the CU faculty since 2002. Her primary research interests include health communication, disability studies, and media effects. She has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences and has published articles in scholarly journals such as the Journal of Applied Communication Research, Health Communication, Disability Studies Quarterly, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of Radio Studies, Health Education and Behavior, Journal of Health Communication, and Journal of Public Relations Research. Several of her conference presentations have won Top Paper awards, and her co-authored article published in the 2003 Journal of Public Relations Research was awarded Article of the Year by the National Communication Association, Public Relations Division. Prior to completing her Ph.D., Dr. Jones served as Communications Consultant for the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health, Cancer Control Section from 1994-1999.
Dr. Jones recieved her M.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Georgia and her B.S. in Communication Arts from Georgia Southern University.
