Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track
The Department of Communication Studies at Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant level to begin August 15, 2008. The program is seeking an applicant to conduct research and teach courses in critical/cultural studies with expertise in either rhetoric or organizational communication. Special consideration will be given to applicants with interests in critical/cultural methods, technology and society, race and ethnic studies, social movements, organizational culture, virtual organizing, online collaboration, and/or international perspectives on work. The successful applicant should serve the department by teaching courses in some of these specific areas in addition to teaching courses in communication theory and research.
Requirements for the position include: Ph.D. (in hand by August 2008) in Communication or closely related field, a record of conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications that suggests future success in scholarly research, and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department curriculum. In addition, where appropriate, the candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues to advance the research mission of Clemson University through pursuit of external funding for research.
The department also has an innovative new undergraduate curriculum addressing theory and research across four interrelated contexts: public, organizational, media and relational.
