A bachelor's degree in construction science, construction management, building construction or a related area is required. Applicants from other disciplines may be admitted, but they may be required to make up any deficiencies in course work to provide the needed prerequisite skills and knowledge for the MCSM graduate program.

Acceptance must be granted by the Graduate School and the Department of Construction Science and Management. Graduate school acceptance is based on performance in previous undergraduate studies and a satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Acceptance by the department is based on performance in undergraduate studies, construction work experience and three letters of recommendation.

The minimum admission requirements for MCSM are:

  • GRE 1350/2400 or 1100/1600 and 4/6 on writing 

  • GPA of 3.0 from undergraduate degree

  • TOEFL 550 or 213 (for foreign students)

  • One year of construction experience working for a construction company

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Official transcripts from undergraduate and/or graduate schools

  • A detailed resume of construction experience

Note: Test scores should be sent to the Graduate School.

Transferring Credit into the MCSM Program

Students can transfer up to 12 semester graduate hours from another accredited institution with departmental approval.
