Clemson Summer Studio in New York City (CAC.NYC)

Established in 2010, The Clemson Summer design studio in New York City is a six-week program engaging one of the most culturally diverse and compelling cities in the world. Students have three options of enrollment, which is competitive based on availability.

Option 1: Design Studio. Undergraduate students that have completed ARCH252 are eligible to enroll in this 6-credit design studio. Completing this course potentially allow a student to graduate early or take a semester off.

Option 2: New York Field Study. Both undergraduate and graduate students may enroll in this 3-credit elective that focuses on the study of and immersion in the built environment.

Option 3: Internship/Mentorship. Students may submit a portfolio to participating architecture offices for review and, if accepting a position offer, enroll in a 3-credit elective that parallels the work experience.

Facilities and Accommodations

The CAC.NYC provides housing and a studio space for enrolled students. The housing is private and furnished, including a kitchen. Clemson leases the property exclusively for the summer studio and, because of this, the location is subject to approval on a year-to-year basis. A program fee is assessed to facilitate these accommodations, see 'Tuition and Fees'.

Tuition and Fees

Students studying in New York pay resident or non-resident tuition + academic fees (summer schedule, per credit) as at the Clemson campus. There is a program fee of approximately $2000. This fee covers room, study abroad insurance, and all local transportation costs. Major items not included with this fee are cost of travel to New York and food.
