Clemson MRED strives to send its graduates into the world with the building blocks to become champions of responsible development and sustainable growth, within the context of economic feasibility and value creation. We are pleased to use our vast network of associates, industry leaders and alumni to provide you with the latest information about employment and internship opportunities.

Summer Internships
Every year, 18-month MRED students seek a required summer internship for 10-11 weeks in real estate development related entities.  These are students with diverse undergraduate backgrounds and experience, who have already completed their first year of the graduate real estate development program.

By the summer, students will have completed the following courses: Intro to Accounting and Finance, Real Estate Principles, Site Planning and Infrastructure, RE Development Process, RE Finance, RE Law, RE Investments, Building Design and Construction Principles, Contractor Role in Development, Intro to Technology (including extensive training in ARGUS and Excel, with exposure to Site to Do Business (STDB), Bloomberg, Reis, Loopnet, and GIS), RE Market Analysis, Public Private Partnership and a weekly Seminar Roundtable. They also have a 10-day RE Development Field Tour of the South Carolina Coast through late May (Myrtle Beach through Charleston to Hilton Head/Savannah seeing 40 developments and 100 professionals). They will have also attended the Fall ULI Conference and visited projects in Atlanta and Charlotte.

We follow the Urban Land Institute principles and perspective of real estate development. Past ULI Chairman, Harry Frampton, is the past President of the Clemson Foundation and a major supporter of our program as are many other leaders of ULI and various other real estate development associations.  We were a Founding Sponsor of the SC District Council of ULI and very active.  All students are members of ULI and ICSC. The program is also affiliated with professional associations such as NAIOP, CNU, CoreNet Global, and USGBC. We also have a relationship with the CRE® and SIOR®, and we are a CCIM accredited University. These are excellent students who will be the next generation of leaders in the real estate development profession.

The firm should feel free to involve the students in special projects or have them join on-going office operations. Students have traditionally received a rate of pay proportional to a junior-level entry position; that is, in the range of $15-$25/hr. based on the market. Some students have received housing benefits as well. The faculty is always available to advise the students beyond the guidance received from the supervisors at the firms. Permanent Job Postings
You can list a full-time position directly with the MRED program by contacting the Program Coordinator. Postings can be shared with both our students and our expanding alumni base.

Internship Postings
You can list a summer or school year internship position directly with the program and the posting will be shared directly with all students. Please contact the Program Coordinator to list your posting.

Employer Presentations
Throughout the year, some employers contact the Clemson MRED program seeking to meet with our students. Company presentations and information sessions can be arranged for you to introduce your company to the students and to explain the nature of the employment offered. Offering an information session will improve your chances of getting the most qualified students on your interview schedule. Presentations are typically scheduled one to two weeks in advance.

Employer Interviews at ONE
Employers are invited to interview our students in private 1:1 meetings. We have quality meeting rooms for you to conduct your interviews and will be glad to assist you in scheduling.
