About Our Department


Our Mission

The mission of the Nieri Family Department of Construction Science and Management (NfCSM) is to offer a comprehensive program of education with scholarly and service activities, consistent with the mission of Clemson University and the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, to improve the quality of the construction industry and thus the built environment.

The mission of the department is being realized through its faculty, students, alumni, and construction industry partners. With an overall retention rate of both undergraduate and graduate students during their time in the respective program of 92% and an overall placement rate of both baccalaureate and master degree graduates of over 90%, Clemson's NfCSM undergraduate and graduate programs are the basis for a rewarding career in the various sectors of the construction industry. Our Goals

The following goals of the department relate directly to and support Clemson University’s 2020 Road Map:

  1. Excel in the education of construction science and management undergraduate and graduate students alike through a rigorous program of academic learning designed to produce motivated, well-educated, responsible citizens with the management and technical skills requisite for leadership positions in the construction industry.
  2. Provide relevant education in construction-related disciplines for other 
undergraduate students at Clemson University.

  3. Foster Clemson University's service mission by providing outreach activities for the construction industry and the public, both nationally and internationally.

  4. Assist in attaining Clemson University's $100 million funded research goal by conducting and disseminating the results of research and development, and/or conducting educational courses for the construction industry.

Comprehensive Student Outcome Assessment Process
