The Department of History and Geography is delighted to welcome Subah Dayal as a new faculty member teaching courses in South Asian History. She comes to Clemson from UCLA where she is completing a doctoral dissertation entitled "Landscapes of Conquest: Patrons and Narratives in the 17th-century Deccan." Her research drawing on manuscript and archival materials in Persian, Urdu and Dutch, examines patronage circuits and military networks across the Deccan (south India), Mughal Empire and Central Asia. Her broader interests include early modern South Asia, Persianate literary cultures, and the history of European expansion in the Indian Ocean world.
