Theatre Minor

Students may pursue a minor in theatre. No entrance audition is required and the curriculum can be completed in two years. The theatre minor requires 20 credit hours including dramatic literature, theatre history, a specialty area of concentration, practicum, and electives.

  • One semester of Dramatic Literature (THEA/ENG 4290 or 4300) or Shakespeare (ENG 4110)
  • One semester of Theatre History (THEA 3150, 3160, or 3170)
  • Two semesters of a specialty area:

      • Acting (THEA 2780 and 4790)
      • Theatre History (THEA 3150 and 3160)
      • Playwriting (THEA 3470, 4470, 3720, and 4720)
      • Creative Drama (THEA 3760 and 4760)
      • Scenic or Lighting Design (THEA 3770 and 4770 or 4870 or 4970)
      • Directing (THEA 3760 and 4760)
      • Costume Technology (THEA 3670) 
      • Costume Design (THEA 4670)
  • Two semesters of Theatre Practicum (THEA 2790)
  • Six credit hours of theatre electives at the 3000 or 4000 level
