Ellory earned a BA and MA in Spanish as well as a Master's Certificate in Museum Management from the University of South Carolina where she was a Carolina Scholar. Her academic interests include visual culture and art, especially women involved in the Spanish surrealist movement. In addition to teaching beginning and intermediate Spanish courses at USC and Clemson, she has worked as an interpreter for the Department of Social Services and Columbia area hospitals. Ellory has also served as an intern at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and as a translator and curatorial assistant at the University of South Carolina's McKissick Museum. She directed the Ecuador Summer Study Abroad Program in 2013 and has served as an advisor for the Language and International Health Program. She is currently the coordinator of the Latin American and Spanish Film Series.
