Michael Hannen earned a B.A. in history from California State University, Fresno and a M.A. in philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a doctoral candidate focusing on the history of ancient Greek philosophy, especially Platonic metaphysics. Michael has broad interests in Aristotelian and Hellenistic ethics, and in contemporary ethics. He has presented papers to the Society for Value Inquiry on the subject of naturalistic ethics, and on topics in social and political philosophy as well. His publications include "Marx, Habermas, and Democratic Theory," in International Studies in Philosophy. He is currently preparing papers on Platonic teleology and on Plato’s doctrine of anamnesis. Prior to Clemson, Michael taught at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.
