Matthew Schilleman’s research interests include modernism, media theory, psychoanalysis, and continental philosophy. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, where he was awarded both the UC Chancellor’s Fellowship and UC President’s Dissertation Year Fellowship. His current book project investigates modernism and its connection to the typewriters, steno pads, carbon papers, and vertical filing cabinets that make up the inscriptive culture of the modern office.
