Dr. Bryan E. Denham has held the Campbell Professorship in Sports Communication since 1999. He received his Ph.D. in communications with an interdisciplinary minor in applied statistics from the University of Tennessee, and his research focuses on how media portrayals of issues linked to sports and health impact public perceptions and policy formation. At the undergraduate level, Dr. Denham teaches sports media criticism, public relations in sports, mass communication theory and the senior communication seminar, and at the graduate level, he teaches empirical research methods in the Rhetorics, Communication and Information Design Ph.D. program. He has published approximately 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, 50 non-refereed articles, book and documentary reviews, and 35 commercial magazine articles, in addition to presenting more than 60 conference papers.
