Dr. Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Science and Management.
Research focus: His primary research interest centers on trust between the key players to the construction project delivery process. Related interests include lean construction, relational sustainability, project team creation and behaviors, ethics and interdisciplinary pedagogy. He has presented his work internationally and is a big proponent of cross-disciplinary and global engagement by undergraduate and graduate students.
Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Smith was the senior project manager for a high-end custom residential developer builder in Park City, UT. In addition to teaching Estimating I and II this year, James is excited to be the faculty advisor for the ABC student chapter and to coach the ABC competition team.
Personal note: Smith is the proud father of five kids, loves sports and the outdoors, and is a Clemson football fan-in-training.
