Burgett has a Ph.D. in Design Construction and Planning at the University of Florida (2013) He will be teaching courses in environmental systems.
Joe Burgett is an assistant professor in Department of Construction Science & Management. He is a licensed general contractor and has over 10 years of commercial construction experience. He teaches the environmental systems courses in his department but also has an educational back ground in construction cost estimating and project management. His primary area of research is in building sustainability with a focus on residential energy. He has recently published several journal articles introducing new methods for modeling energy use and reducing overall energy consumption.
Research focus: Burgett's central interest is in how to model and reduce energy consumption in the built environment.
Personal note: Burgett has moved to Clemson with his wife Jill and his three young daughters all under the age of 5. In his free time he enjoys wilderness camping, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his extended family.
