Professor Wood came to Clemson University in 2009. Her teaching and research interests lie in the pursuit and manipulation of power in medieval Europe, the intersection between the secular and the religious in medieval society, and the expansion of western culture at its frontiers. At Clemson, her classes include the West in the World, Hermits and Heretics: The Medieval Church, 300-1450, Barbarians at the Gate: Exploring Western Society and its Borders in the Pre-modern Era, and The Crusading Impulse, past and present.
