Raquel Anido (Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University) is an assistant professor in the Department of Languages, where she teaches a wide array of courses encompassing the literature, cinema, and culture of Spain.
Before joining the Clemson faculty in 2010, she was a fellow at the School of Criticism and Theory at Cornell University. She also holds a Licenciatura in Law from the Universitat de Barcelona.
Dr. Anido's scholarly interests include cultural studies, gender studies, and popular culture in relation to the cultural production of Contemporary Spain. She was awarded both the Lightsey Fellowship and the Faculty Research Development Fellowship to support her current book project, which engages popular music as an important (while critically neglected) subtext within the literary and the cinematic traditions of Spain from the post-war years until present.
