Barbara Heifferon
Dr. Heifferon is an associate professor of English at Clemson University.
She earned a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Composition, and the teaching of
English at the University of Arizona. Her dissertation was in medical
rhetoric, doctor-patient communication. Her expertise includes such
fields as: medical rhetoric; professional and technical writing,
health communication, service learning, writing across the curriculum,
rhetoric of science, history of medicine, computer ethics, and Aristotelian
Catharsis. She will be teaching ENGL
806 - Medical Rhetoric and Writing, which will be based on the
book she is currently writing.

Karyn
Ogata Jones
Dr.
Jones received her PhD. from University of Georgia in Communication
Studies. She is an assistant professor in the Communication Studies
Department at Clemson. Her dissertation is in Health Communication.
Her specialties are health campaign planning, health communication,
and public relations. She will be teaching English 807 and other
courses in HCC.

Kate Hawkins
Dr. Hawkins received both of her graduate degrees in Speech Communication
from the University of Texas at Austin. Her teaching focuses on
areas of group communication, health communication, communication
theory and research methods. Her recent research examines how media
effect the choices young people make about their health and fitness.

Pamela E. Mack
Dr.
Mack is an associate professor in History who specializes in the
history of sciences, including medicine. This award-winning History
professor provides in her History of Medicine course, HIST
691, a thorough historical overview for students in the HCC
program. Other professors in HCC and the History Department also
study the history of medicine.

Catherine Mobley
Dr. Mobley is an associate professor of Sociology at Clemson University
who actually earned a B.A. in Sociology from Clemson in 1984. She
continued her education at the University of Bath in England studying
Policy Analysis, and she earned a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University
of Maryland in 1996. Dr. Mobley will be teaching Sociology
680 - Medical Sociology.

Kelly Smith
Dr. Smith is an associate professor of Philosophy and Religion at
Clemson University. He graduated Magna cum Laude in Philosophy at
Georgia State University and proceeded on to Duke University where
he earned his M.S. in Zoology (Genetics) in 1991 and Ph.D. in Philosophy
in 1994. His areas of specialization include philosophy of science,
biology and medicine along with medical ethics and ethics of biotechnology.
He will be teaching Philosophy 346
- Medical Ethics.
