Professor Steirer has taught at Clemson for more than 30 years. His long career in teaching has also been a distinguished one: he is one of the Department’s Alumni Master Teachers, and his discussion-based courses are all university favorites. He teaches environmental history, colonial history, and the American Revolution—the latter using a role-playing method that has proven very popular with students. Dr. Steirer also teaches South Carolina history. He has written on journalism in the Revolutionary era and is also editing a forthcoming collection of essays, Historians of the American South.
