Aid Financial aid is available primarily in the form of graduate assistantships, which provide students tuition reduction and a substantial stipend. Graduate assistants’ primary tasks are grading papers and otherwise assisting professors in large sections of the Western Civilization survey. This promotes interaction between graduate students and faculty and gives students and faculty familiarity with offering and administering a university-level history course. First-year stipends are typically $8,500 per year, increasing to $10,000 in the second year. The cost of living (food, gas, and housing) in upstate South Carolina is relatively low. For further information, contact the graduate coordinator, Professor Steven Marks. |
