Friends of German

Many of our students keep in touch after graduation. Some of our students are working in Germany. You may want to contact them to find out more about our program, chances on the job market, or keep in touch with old friends.

MATT JOHNSON--German L&IT major (Dec. 2000), studied at the Fachhochschule Jena (Technical Univ. of Jena) for a year; now he is working as a manager for the German supermarket chain "Lidl" in Hof (tiefes Bayern!).

STEPHANIE GALLAGHER--double major in History and German (May 2002), German Club Vice Pres of last year. Currently on a one-year Fulbright Pedagogical Assistantship where she helps teach English classes at a secondary school in Gera (eastern Germany, close to Weimar and Jena). She has also started an Engl. Stammtisch.

SARAH LARSON--German L&IT major (May 2001). Like Stephanie (above), she spent one year as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant (close to Berlin) and currently has a Fulbright Internship at Telekom in Bonn.

KEVIN PARKER--Mechanical Engineering (May 2002) (did the CLIP program and had several upper level German courses); also a former German Club Vice President, worked at Daimler in the Stuttgart area in the Summer 2002 and is currently on a Master's program in Mechanical Engineering at the FachhochschuleEsslingen (Stuttgart area).

ANGELA CLINKSCALES--Architecture (May 1998). After spending one year under an all-expenses paid Congress/Bundestag grant, she stayed in Germany--in Weimar--where she is acquiring a second architecture degree. Since she's from Easley, she comes back to our area each summer/early fall and continues to impress us with her ever-more magnificent German (as she did at this year's Salatabend, the first German Club activity of this fall).

MIKEY CASHIN--German L&IT (May 2000). He currently studies International Law at duke University (M.A. prgram) and wishes to add an economics or business component. (mcashin1@yahoo.com)
