Language Lab - Room 113, Daniel Hall

The Clemson Language Laboratory is a multifunctional space serving faculty and students in the Department of Languages as well as others throughout the University community.

Located on the first floor of Daniel Hall, the Language Laboratory consists of three fully equipped computer classrooms as well as a media library and audiovisual equipment repository. Courses are held in each of the rooms and free student access is also available outside of class times.  

Language Laboratory Hours

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Laboratory Classrooms

Daniel Hall 102, 102A, and 106 are equipped with 24 student desktop computers (Dell Optiplex 990, with an i5 processor, 4GB memory, 320GB hard drive, and a 19” flat panel monitor), as well as a teacher station with equivalent hardware and the capabilities for ceiling projector usage.

All classrooms are designed for maximum collaboration between students and teachers, allowing for constructive, communicative language and culture instruction. Students and faculty have freedom of movement and the ability to work together on different types of projects within the context of their coursework.

The online version of the TellMeMore language-learning program has been implemented for student use across multiple languages. Student and faculty members can access this program here.

Equipment and Media Collections

The Language Laboratory maintains an extensive collection of audiovisual materials and equipment. Full-length films as well as instructional videos in each language are available in DVD or VHS format for individual as well as instructional use. Many software titles are also available for use in classrooms or the Laboratory rooms.

Numerous audiovisual equipment resources are also available, including but not limited to:

  • SMART Carts (portable carts with a laptop computer, a projector, and speakers)
  • Television/DVD/VCR Carts
  • FLIP Cameras
  • Digital Voice Recorders
  • Projectors

In addition to the Director, the Laboratory office is staffed with knowledgeable and helpful assistants who are also ready and willing to aid instructors and students as well as collaborate on projects such as online learning, the use of audiovisual materials in the language classroom, and the development of course materials using technology.
