Clemson Language Intensive Program (CLIP) The Clemson Language Total Immersion Program is an on-campus language institute that was designed to enhance the language skills and cultural knowledge of both students and working professionals. Participants must complete an equivalent of three or more semesters in the target language (French, German, Japanese, or Spanish) in order to enroll in this five-week, six-credit summer course. The Immersion Programs are intensive courses, which include approximately 6-8 hours of classroom instruction, social activities, and discussion each day. Activities include weekly excursions, guest presentations, and visits to area business firms. Native speakers are present daily for meal conversations, afternoon conversation classes, and leisure activities. Email: ktoshik@clemson.edu -- (864)656.5393 Clemson Language Adventure Week (CLAW) The Department of Languages offers an exciting one-week language summer camp for students who will be entering Grade 5 or 6. These day camps run from Monday through Friday (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) and introduce elementary school students to the various languages taught by the department, which include American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Students will practice basic conversations, study several vocabularies (numbers, colors, clothes, animals, etc.), make arts and crafts, watch entertaining videos in the target languages, learn about the cultural diversity of the countries, and will play games to reinforce their knowledge of the languages.
