Injoo Whang, Julia Freeman, and Heidi Jensen
In Close Formation presents Injoo Whang, Julia Freeman and Heidi Jensen. All three artists utilize a variety of drawing processes and procedures. Injoo Whang, from New York City, uses small individual parts or marks to create large-scale installation drawings that examine the relationships of part to whole; unique agent to larger context. Julia Freeman of Seattle employs a variety of painting, printmaking and drawing approaches to create powerful shapes residing within white spaces that range from non-objective narrative to politically charged commentaries. Heidi Jensen of Clemson creates representational drawings of hybrid figures and entities based on issues surrounding human behavior and identity.
