Overview
The Masters of Arts in Professional Communication
combines work in theory and research with a comprehensive emphasis
on written, oral, and visual communication in professional contexts.
This program will prepare you to work as a professional communicator
for industry or public service or to teach in two year colleges.
In addition, the program provides the background necessary to pursue
a Ph.D. in rhetoric or technical communication or opt for a career
working in a variety of media across the industries. In this program
you are encouraged to tailor the degree to meet your individual
career objectives.
During your course of study, you will also have
the opportunity to work with some of the latest technology available
for document design in the Multimedia-Authoring,
Teaching and Research Facility, and in the Usability Testing
Facility. You may also have the chance to work in a variety of other
disciplines, as the MAPC program has the potential to draw on Clemson's
expertise in agriculture and natural resources, architecture, city
and regional planning, engineering, textiles, and basic sciences
and technologies. In addition, the Campbell
Chair in Technical Communication, the Pearce
Center for Professional Communication, the Effective Technical
Communication program in engineering, and the Health
Communications Certificate constitute a network of professors
who can enable students to work in professional communication in
a variety of disciplines.
