Work And No Play?
No,
we aren't all work. As the cliché would imply, we believe
that leisure time is an important component of a student's study
in any academic program, but particularly so during the rigors of
graduate school. You will come to find that though the town of Clemson
is relatively small, there are plenty of nearby attractions and
local hangouts to fill an afternoon, evening or even a weekend with
relaxing activities.
Additionally,
whether you are relaxing at a local pub, hiking through the mountains,
or participating in a local church activity, we hope you will discover
that one of Clemson's greatest assets is its people. Indeed, college
at all levels, we believe, should include academic achievement as
well as the cultivation of valuable relationships--professional
and social. The MAPC network, you will find, like the Clemson University
network, includes people from all over the world and located all
over the world who are still important parts of a community that
they were active in during their years here. It is no accident that,
in the past, those students who have performed well in the MAPC
program have been those who have sought relationships with their
colleagues and enjoyed a friendly support network. With an eye toward
helping new students and current students establish friendships
and find places to relax, we have established this page with advice
from present and past students concerning what to do in the area.
We look
forward to welcoming you into the community, and hope that, as a
member of this community, if you enjoy an activity in the area that
isn't listed here, you will let us know so that we might post it
here for others to consider!
