October 18, 2013--The Clemson University Master of Real Estate Development program hosted Ms. Amy Clayton, a partner of Nexsen Pruet’s Columbia, SC office and Mr. Josh Beyer, Vice President of Sembler Company in St. Petersburg, Florida on Friday, October 18 as part of the MRED program’s Brown Bag Lunch Speaker Series. The Speaker Series features discussions and presentations from leading real estate professionals in the region. Ms. Clayton's practice and presentation focused on multi-family legal issues, which was timely given the surge in multi-family development activity and the increased complexity of higher density and infill projects. Mr. Beyer provided insight about the challenges retail developers are facing with a sluggish economy and the changing retail environment desired by shoppers.
Ms. Clayton earned her J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina and holds a Biochemistry undergraduate degree from Clemson University. Mr. Beyer received his undergraduate degrees from Clemson in Civil Engineering. Their professional advice to the MRED students was supportive of the graduate real estate studies the students are learning and how well-prepared they will be for an industry that is seeing renewed activity in many markets.
