EDP 801 Advanced Theory/History (3)
Critical assessment of history and theory in the fields of design, planning, and built environment. Course will be interdisciplinary and require completion of a masters level theory course as a prerequisite.
EDP 805, 806, 807, 808 Readings in the Fields of Architecture, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Construction Science (3 credits each)
Historical and contemporary readings in disciplinary field designed to provide exposure and depth of coverage for important works within individual disciplinary fields. A set of readings will be developed for students within each field of study. Individual faculty members will be assigned to direct readings courses.
EDP 809 Environmental Design and Planning Workshop (3)
Students participate in semester long projects to develop and apply a systematic approach to real-world design and planning issues. A project report and presentation are prepared for client.
EDP 810 Contemporary Issues in Environmental Design and Planning (3)
An interdisciplinary seminar focusing on contemporary issues related to environmental design and planning. The focus will be on important contemporary and emerging issues affecting the built environment .
EDP 812 Environmental Design and Planning Seminar (1, taken four semesters)
Weekly colloquium provides forum for faculty and student research and invited speakers to address important issues of the day.
EDP 815, 816 Research Design (3 credits each)
Introduction to the philosophy and method of scientific research. Within that context, students will prepare a preliminary proposal for their dissertation research.
EDP 820 Instructional Design Delivery (1) or VT ED 876 (3)
Course will present information on teaching technique including oral presentation skills, content organization, and classroom interaction. Designed to prepare future academics but presentation skills will benefit non-academic professionals as well.
