            Ph.D. in City & Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., May, 1978.

            M.R.P. (Master of Regional Planning) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., January, 1972.

            B.S. in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, June, 1969.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

 

         Associate Dean for Research and Outreach, College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, August 2001 - present;

 

            Director of the Center for Community Growth and Change (CCGC), January 2001 – June 2007;

 

            Director of the Reedy River Master Planning Project, January 2001 – January 2002.

                        Promoting research and outreach in the 10 departments in the College, advising the Dean, and establishing the CCGC as the outreach arm of the College.  In addition to directing a successful year-long master planning effort, I coordinated a staff of three research associates in obtaining and completing $300K in externally funded projects.

 

            Professor, Department of Planning Studies, Clemson University, 1988 - present; Program Director/Coordinator, 1995 - present (Acting Department Head, Spring 1990; Associate Professor, 1979-1988).

         AICP: member of the American Institute of Certified Planners;

            helped organize and teach AICP Exam Review Course for SCAPA, 1997 - present, with ~20-25 planners taking the course annually;

            Member, Joint Task Force for AICP and ACSP, 1998-2000.

            APA: American Planning Association member.

            SC chapter of the APA: Executive Committee member, 1995-2000; founding member and faculty, SC Academy for Planning Education, taught six courses 1999-2000; editor of the Palmetto Planner, newsletter for the SC chapter of APA, 1995 –2001. Education committee, 2004-2005

            ACSP: Reviewer, Journal of Planning Education and Research.

            Member, PAB Site Visit Accreditation Pool, 1995 - present; conducted six site visits, chair of teams 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005.

            Consultant: facilitated strategic planning sessions for a variety of groups; taught short courses on local planning processes.
