Responsibilities:
January 2003-Present

  • Design, develop, and implement all aspects of child injury prevention programs
  • Responsible for program promotion, enhancement, community involvement
  • Manage budget and actively seek grant funding
  • Develop and prepare material for workshops and presentations
  • Plan and implement instructor workshops, bike rodeos, safety days, presentations
  • Coordinate between programs and county liaisons and participate in county events
  • State leader and coordinator for NFPA child injury prevention program, “Risk Watch”
  • Coordinate with “I’m Safe” Productions to obtain safety information and materials
  • Supervise student assistant
August 1988-January 2003
  • Updated the “Get Fired Up” fire safety curriculum for 5th grade students
  • In conjunction with the SC State Fire Marshal’s Office, developed “Freddie”
  • curriculum (teacher module, student workbooks, and video) for K-5th grade
  • Designed, promoted, and implemented a statewide poster/creative writing contest
  • Designed, promoted, and directed a statewide fire cadet camp for 12-15 year olds
  • Supervised staff of two to three undergrad and grad student assistants each year
  • Established liaison between fire professionals and county 4-H agents
  • Responsible for financial management of several on-going projects
  • Contracted with SC State Fire Marshal’s Office to develop fire safety curriculum
