Facilities
The laboratories for the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry are housed n Jordan Hall and in the Biosystems Research Complex. The department is well equipped with most of the conventional instrumentation expected or modern genetic and biochemical analysis. Graduate students have access to specialized research laboratories, including a DNA sequencing facility with LiCor and ABI sequencing equipment, a monoclonal antibody facility, a computerized bioinstrumentation laboratory, an image analysis facility, a confocal/electron microscopy suite equipped for transmission and scanning electron microscopy, controlled-environment chambers, a tissue culture laboratory, fully equipped darkrooms, isotope handling and counting facilities, plant growth chambers, a $7 million greenhouse complex, and a small-animal care facility with surgical capabilities. A new proteomics facility funded by an NSF Instrumentation grant and a microarray facility have just recently been completed at the BRC.

The Robert Muldrow Copper Library
Clemson's main library houses more than one million volumes and documents and subscribes to the majority of major biological, chemical, mathematical and physical science journals. On-line bibliographic retrieval is available through the database searching capabilities of Lockheed and SDC search services. Databases include electronic journals, Bios, Life Sciences, Medline and Zoological Record.
