The Clemson Equestrian Team (CUET) is a Club Sport at Clemson University and we compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) (Zone V, Region III). Riding within ISHA provides the opportunity for riders of all skills to compete individually and as a team. Clemson's team competes in each level of Hunt Seat Equitation and Western Horsemanship.
Each new member completes a form and a tryout that establishes placement level, then as a rider wins ribbons and points during their IHSA career. As they earn 36 points in their respective division, they qualify for post-season championship competition and move up through the divisions.
CUET is comprised of both the Hunt Seat (HS) and Western (W) teams. Members may complete a tryout for the HS and/or W team. Show Level Members are chosen to ride for a division of the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association). Depending on eligibility and the coach’s discretion, you may be chosen for two divisions.
CUET competes in Zone V Region III of the IHSA. We typically have 8 horse shows per year. At these shows, riders compete on horses provided by the host team. Riders are not given any time to warm up the horse before they show. All classes are judged on the rider’s ability, not the ability of the horse. The rider will compete for an individual placement in their class, and points from these rides will go towards our overall team placing at each show.
