Clemson University's class ring is part of the University's unique culture. With its copyrighted design, only Clemson students and alumni have the privilege of wearing the ring.
Although the Clemson ring tradition dates back to the late 1890's, it wasn't until 1940 that a group of senior architecture students decided to design a ring that could be recognized by graduates and supporters all over the world. The design was accepted by students and alumni. In July 1940 the Board of Trustees passed a resolution recommending the ring design be adopted as the official Clemson ring. Years later, with the acceptance of women to the University, a second Clemson ring style for women was adopted.
Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 90 semester hours and graduate students must present their GS-4 form at the time the order is placed. (Note: The minimum semester hours needed changed from 95 to 90 in the undergraduate catalog effective August 15, 2007.)
