Art Specifications

Before submitting artwork to Campus Banner + Design, please review the following guidelines:

Accepted Media

You can send your artwork on a variety of media:

We do not archive files, so please retain your original files. Send a copy of your files to Campus Banner + Design, and label your CD/disk with your organization/company name.

Files & Folder Organization

When organizing your files, please place your files in 2 folders labeled:

  • Documents – Include all page layouts and final artwork
  • Support Files – Include all EPS, linked TIFF(s), and supported files used. Provide a printed directory listing all files used. Do not supply multiple files expecting us to select the best.

Sample/Printout

A laser or inkjet printout must be submitted with your files and must match the files you provided. (You may “scale to fit” the printer and paper dimensions of 8.5in x 11in.) Without a clean, accurate printout of your artwork, we cannot know how your artwork should look.

Spelling Errors and Proofreading

Campus Banner + Design does not proofread your files. Carefully check your artwork for any layout errors, spelling errors, grammatical errors, and factual data errors.

Proof

Before printing a final copy of your artwork, Campus Banner + Design will print a proof. If the final printed artwork will be larger than 8.5in x 11in, the proof will be a smaller version. The proof will simulate how the final printed artwork will look. When you receive your proof, carefully check for any errors. Campus Banner + Design is not responsible for any errors that you did not detect on an approved proof. If you overlook an error on an approved proof, you are still responsible for payment in full. A proof must be approved before the final print is made.

Double check your files

Please check your files. If files that you submitted do not conform to these standards, Campus Banner + Design will quote you a price for fixing the files (if possible), or you may be asked to provide us corrected files. Files not prepared properly will not be put into production until they are corrected.

Resolution of Images

All artwork should have a resolution no less than 150dpi at final size. Fine art reproductions should have a resolution of no less than 300dpi at final size. Please do not use graphics from the internet because they will produce a poor quality print.

We offer scanning services if you prefer to send us your photographs or negatives. Please label photographs your organization/company name.

Color

Your artwork can be submitted as RGB or CMYK. Please do not use Pantone colors, special spot colors, or special color systems in your artwork. There will be a slight variation in color from what you see on your computer monitor and the final printed artwork.

Fonts

Whenever possible convert your fonts to “outlines” or “curves” (converted text creates a graphic that can no longer be text edited). If you are unable to convert your fonts to outlines/paths then you must supply all of the fonts used in your files. Do not assume Campus Banner + Design has the fonts.
