OWS is charged with oversight responsibilities in maintaining legal compliance for all Clemson University Web sites.

Section 508 Web Accessibility Compliance
All new or revised Clemson University Web sites and pages must meet Section 508 Web accessibility compliance (Rehabilitation Act, Section 508, subsection 1194.22). This requirement is mandated by the state of South Carolina to ensure that all Web sites are designed to be accessible, so people with disabilities have access to online information, data and services comparable to that accorded to individuals who do not have disabilities.

OWS, along with CCIT and the University legal counsel, will oversee Section 508 compliancy and offer assistance across campus as needed. The University's Web content management system, Cascade, offers built-in compliancy features.

OWS will monitor and react to any University Web site/page presenting possible legal challenges. Areas to be monitored include:
