As Clemson University continues to expand the Bicycle Infrastructure across campus, we want to actively engage faculty, staff, and students in biking around campus. Clemson University Parking and Transportation Services (PATS), Clemson Outdoor Recreation and Education (CORE), and the Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) will be hosting a series events for the whole week of October 28, 2013 to educate students, faculty, and staff on the ins and outs of riding bikes. Student Photo Contest

Presented by PATS + CORE

Throughout this week’s events, students are encouraged to take pictures of themselves and friends interacting with bicycles and bicycle facilities across campus and submit them for judging. Costumes are encouraged for pictures submitted on Halloween. The winner will win a Serfas CP-100 Combo Pack Light Set donated by Bike Street USA (formerly Ride On Bicycles).

Photos may be submitted via Twitter using @clemson_parking, Parking and Transportation Services Facebook page, CORE’s Facebook page, or the Student Affairs Facebook page. Photos must be submitted by Sunday, Nov. 3, at noon to be considered. The winner will be announced through these same social media channels on Friday, Nov. 8.

Bike "Fix It" Station Demonstrations

Presented by CORE

Outside Holmes Hall from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Members of CORE will be set up outside Holmes to help students learn to how to properly use the basic tools found on the free "Fix It" Station to complete minor repairs on their bicycles.

Bike Safety Seminar

Presented by PATS + CORE + CUPD

Fike Lounge @ 6 pm

This seminar will provide students an opportunity to engage in an open dialogue with CORE leaders and CU Police Officers about bicycle safety and learn about the rules of the road bikes. If you have ever had a question about bikes or biking, this will be the place to get it answered.

Bike Repair Workshop + Demonstration

Presented by CORE

Campus Beach behind the big red barn @ 5:30 p.m. for beginners and @ 6 p.m. for advanced users

CORE staff will lead demonstrations about how to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a bicycle for beginners and how to perform more intensive repair for advanced users. Staff will be there to assist students in fixing problems and assessing the condition of bicycles. Participants are welcome to bring their own bicycles

Mountain Biking through Issaqueena

Meet at Campus Beach by 3:30 p.m. and the ride will last about two hours.
