Research

Campus Health Behavior Research

The Health Promotion Office administers the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) and the CORE drug and alcohol use survey either annually or biannually to gather information about student behaviors, attitudes and perceptions regarding various health issues.

The Health Promotion Office also works collaboratively with the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and the Redfern Health Center Quality Improvement Committees to improve services for students at Clemson.

SHAC

The Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is an officially recognized student organization run by its dedicated members who are actively involved in the planning and implementation of each of the major events sponsored by the Health Promotion Office. SHAC members serve as volunteers during the events. SHAC members advocate for the health and wellness of all students on campus and act as liaisons between students and Redfern Health Center. SHAC membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

Please visit SHAC's Orgsync for more information about memberships and our upcoming meetings and events.

Internship and Community Service

The Health Promotion Office welcomes the opportunity to mentor students who are pursuing careers in areas that would benefit from experience in our office. We host undergraduate interns and graduate interns and practicum students each semester. Students must apply ahead of time to ensure their position with us.

We are also an approved site for most community service requirements. Many students who have received the community service grant volunteer to work in health promotion office, as well as students who have been sanctioned through a judicial system.

All students who work or volunteer in the Health Promotion Office, either as interns or as community service students, must sign a confidentiality agreement. For more information, call 864-656-0141.
