Civic Engagement Annual Awards

imageEach year, the Civic Engagement office recognizes the outstanding service initiated by Clemson students. Two awards, "Student Organization of the Year for Exceptional Community Service" and "Outstanding Community Service Collaboration," are given annually to student organizations that have demonstrated exceptional service during the academic year. Award applicants are required to document their service work through ClemsonCounts in order to be considered. The application deadline is Monday, April 13, 2015, 11:59 p.m. Recipients will be honored at the Student Affairs Awards Ceremony to be held on April 23, 2015, 6:30 p.m., Owen Pavilion, Madren Center.

 

Award Descriptions

Student Organization of the Year for Exceptional Community Service

This award goes to the student service organization that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service in the community. Criteria include quality and quantity of programs, strength of organizational leadership and partnerships with both off-campus and on-campus groups. APPLY

Outstanding Community Service Collaboration Award

This award is given based on a partnership that exemplifies the principles of collaboration, reciprocity and common purpose. This can be accomplished through a single project, ongoing projects or multiple programs. The partnership should demonstrate a strong and mutual relationship between a campus entity (e.g., a student organization or campus department) and nonprofit organization. APPLY

2013-2014 Award Recipient

Student Organization of the Year for Exceptional Community Service: Solid Orange Squad

This award goes to the student service organization that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service in the community as demonstrated by the quantity and quality of service programs, strength of organizational leadership, and partnerships with both off and on campus groups. This year’s recipient is Solid Orange Squad, a student-athlete run organization that engages members in a number of regular projects serving the local Clemson community. This organization serves many local schools and youth through athlete mentorship in their “Be a Tiger” character education initiative.
