I am EMpower’s Graduate Assistant, and have been with the office since August 2012.  I graduated from Auburn University in May 2012 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences with a Pre-Dental Concentration.  After losing my passion for science and dentistry, I discovered Student Affairs and began pursuing a new dream.  I wear many hats in my role with EMpower; I help supervise our student interns and build relationships between campus and community members… but that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

I am part of the Creative Inquiry team researching marijuana and other drugs specifically prescription drugs.  We are hoping to bring some awareness to the discussion of these topics.  I am also helping to plan the annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament that will be held in March this year.  I am excited to be involved with both of these projects! I am hoping we have another great turnout for the tournament this year!

I, along with our Graduate Assistant, Meredith, supervise the Tigers Off Campus committee. We are comprised of several upperclassmen and several underclassmen and we are a liaison between off campus students/apartments and Clemson University. I have previously worked with EMpower during the summer as the Think Ahead intern. I love working for EMpower because it allows me to make a difference on the best campus in the country.

I'm thrilled to be working with the EMpower office and gaining valuable experience in safety education initiatives. I love the idea of getting to establish relationships with community partners and local apartment managers in a coalition-based effort to keep our students safe. This semester I am working with the Off-Campus Orientation Flipbook and its promotion as we approach next fall's move-in. I hope that the guide can help students who will be moving off-campus for the first time to feel comfortable with the added transitions and responsibilities, and feel safe in their living environment.
