University Housing is committed to assisting Clemson University in achieving its goals. It is with this in mind that University Housing has adjusted its Continuing Student Sign-Up Process to align with University priorities. Research has shown that students who live on-campus as sophomores perform better academically and graduate at higher rates than those who live off campus. Also, sophomores benefit greatly from easy access to University services.
Therefore, to further assist rising sophomores with being successful Clemson students, the University will give priority to any rising sophomore who wishes to live on campus if they participate in the specified sign-up periods.
How will priority be given for assignments?
Priority will be given to groups who will completely fill a suite or an apartment. Between groups of equal size, a lottery will determine priority.
What if I want to live in a Living-Learning Community?
If you want to live in a Living-Learning Community, your process will take place beginning on January 14, 2013. For more information, please contact Eric Pernotto at 864-656-5740.
What if I am a member of a Fraternity or Sorority?
If you are a member of a Fraternity or Sorority, and will be living on your chapter's hall during 2013-2014 academic year, please complete an online housing contract sometime between 12:01 a.m. on January 14 and 11:59 p.m. on February 10, 2013. After you complete your housing contract, you will be assigned according to the roster that was submitted by your chapter. What if I would like to request to live in McCabe Hall?
During the 2013-2014 academic year, McCabe Hall will be home to multiple Living-learning communities and new freshmen students. The following Living-learning community participants will be housed in McCabe Hall: Air Force and Army ROTC. In addition to these Living-learning communities, new freshmen students will be able to select McCabe Hall for the 2013-2014 academic year.
What if I am a rising sophomore and I would like to request a rising junior or senior as my roommate?
University Housing has prioritized housing first and second year students. We believe that there will be very few space available after all rising sophomores are placed. If your desire is to remain on campus we suggest that you select other rising sophomores as your suite-mates or apartment-mates. If space is available after Wednesday, February 13, we will be happy to assist you with your request.
Do I have to complete an application to receive an assignment?
Yes. A student must complete and submit the online contract to be eligible to receive an on-campus housing assignment. Students who request roommates need to make sure that all information on the applications is identical.
What if I’m notified that I have an error in my application?
You will be notified if there is an error in your contract, and you will need to correct the error as soon as possible. Instructions for correcting the error will be included the e-mail. Errors may include discrepancies between roommate requests and location preferences. A contract with an uncorrected error will significantly reduce your chances of getting your request met.
