Residential Life Graduate Assistantships

Thank you for your interest in Clemson University and the Residential Life Graduate Assistantships. Currently, we have openings for the following graduate assistantships for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Academic Program

Residential Life Graduate Assistantships require you to be a full-time, degree-seeking student enrolled in the Master of Education - Student Affairs program. We encourage you to investigate our program to ensure that it will meet your needs as a student. Also, please keep in mind that if you are offered a position as a Residential Life Graduate Assistant, you must have been accepted and offered admission by the Graduate School. If you do not meet the standards of the Graduate School and/or the individual program in which you are interested, you may not accept a graduate assistantship.

All candidates for Residential Life Graduate Assistantship positions must apply to the Graduate School. The PRIORITY deadline for application is February 1, 2012. All candidates must apply to the Graduate School before March 1, 2012.

Timeline and Process

Students interested in Residential Life Graduate Assistantship positions must submit an application to the Graduate School, complete the Graduate Assistant application, and follow up with Amy Gamble regarding your interest and resume. 

  • February 1, 2012 - Priority Deadline for the Graduate School Application
  • February 24, 2012 - Deadline for the Graduate Assistantship Application
  • February 24, 2012 - Deadline to contact Amy Gamble for interest in Residential Life Graduate Assistantships
  • March 1, 2012 - Deadline for Graduate School Application

Candidates who have been admitted to the Graduate School AND completed the Graduate Assistant application prior to the priority deadline will be considered for an invitation to the GASP On-Campus Interview Days.

  • The GASP On-Campus Interview Days will be March 15-17, 2012
  • Preference, when hiring, will be given to those candidates who make the priority admissions deadline and attend the On-Campus Interview Days.

Offers for assistantships will begin on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. 

Resume: Submit a cover letter, resume, and the names and contact information of three references to Amy Gamble. In your email to Amy Gamble, please be certain to note up to three Residential Life Graduate Assistantships you are interested in pursuing.

Phone and Skype Interviews: We are offering limited phone or Skype interviews prior to February 24 for those candidates unable to attend OPE.

Oshkosh Placement Exchange

Representatives from Clemson University will be attending the Oshkosh Placement Exchange in Oshkosh, WI March 2-4, 2012.  if you are attending and are interested in meeting representatives, please contact us through the Oshkosh Placement Exchange site. Employer number 2044.

On-campus offers: Invitations for on-campus visits will start immediately after the placement exchange and phone interviews.

Residential Life Graduate Assistantship On-campus visitation days:  March 15-17, 2012. Candidates attending the On-Campus Interview Days will be expected to arrive on campus on March 15th by 4 p.m. and depart on March 17th. During the On-Campus Interview Days, candidates will be hosted by current staff, go through several traditional interviews with administrative and Graduate Assistants, participate in an interactive exercise with RA staff, have the opportunity for campus tours, as well as meet faculty from the Student Affairs program. (More extensive information will be provided to those offered on-campus visits).

Offers: We expect to be able to begin offering positions no later than March 20, 2012. If you have not been accepted to a graduate program by that date, any offer will be pending your acceptance.
