Conference Assistant

This supervisory position is principally responsible for the management of all residence halls and apartment areas and the respective groups therein as well as assisting with the supervision and scheduling of Hall Managers. Position reports to the Associate Director of Housing Summer Programs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

 Ongoing

  • Be available by cell phone (24-hours) for call back or needs of participants/sponsors (phone provided by Housing Summer Programs)
  • Communicate with Hall Managers on a daily basis; attend staff meetings as needed
  • Communicate daily with the Associate Director to address concerns, problems, issues
  • Ensure that the buildings and front desks are maintained in a professional manner with excellent customer service
  • Assist in scheduling for 8-10 Hall Managers.
  • Accept calls and fulfill all duties for Hall Managers in the event that a Hall Manager is unable to fulfill duties or is off-campus
  • Provide individualized training for Hall Managers prior to and at the start of building openings
  • Assist with check-ins and check-outs of sponsors and participants throughout the summer
  • Abide by and support University policies and procedures representing University Housing in a professional manner
  • Monitor staff performance, give recognition, and document any performance problems
  • Ensure all Hall Managers have submitted all desk schedules and post schedules on website
  • Review all building logs daily to monitor activities in the buildings and follow-up with Hall Managers as needed.
  • Attend all weekly Hall Manager meetings; work during Graduation Weekend Housing; provide luggage assistance for groups as needed
  • Supervise and coordinate Linen Crew
  • Ensure all respective Hall Managers have completed and submitted staff timesheets in accordance to University policy and procedures
  • Review, correct, sign and submit timesheets to the Housing Summer Programs Office in accordance to payroll schedules
  • Become proficient in Tribuo and Picture Perfect; ability to provide training for staff in Tribuo and Picture Perfect

 Qualifications and Requirements

  • Have an interest in working during the summer months from May -August
  • Must be willing to work 40 hours per week and not be employed by another department, organization or business; and not enrolled in Summer School classes
  • Must have previously worked a minimum of one full summer as a Hall Manager or two summers of experience working as a Desk Supervisor
  • Maintain a cumulative minimum grade point ratio of 2.25 at time of submission of application
  • Lived in University Housing for a minimum of one semester; required to live on campus from May-August
  • Must be organized, punctual, assertive, respectful, polite, detail-oriented, and have good communication skills
  • Committed to displaying an exemplary attitude providing excellent customer service
  • Willing to work through challenging deadlines and have the ability to multi-task and troubleshoot problems
  • Must be available for phone calls at all times and have limited time-off
  • Must be committed to represent Clemson University and University Housing in a professional manner
  • Must consent to a motor vehicle check, criminal background check and National Sex Offender Registry check

  • $440 Weekly Salary
