Desk Supervisor
The Desk Supervisor is a Clemson University student employee who serves as a customer service representative for all conference sponsors and participants who enter the residence hall or apartment areas. Desk Supervisors are responsible for answering the phone, controlling the keys, providing information, building security and maintaining an efficient desk operation. The Desk Supervisor reports to the Hall Manager where assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Security/Cleanliness
- Monitor the entrances of the building
- Monitor the building/lobby environment ensuring security/cleanliness is maintained
- Maintain security/cleanliness of the desk area during shift
- Assist in the maintenance of keybox
- Enforce Housing policies and procedures
- Monitor computer, where applicable
- Document building activity in building log
Telephones
- Answer the phone pleasantly and courteously
- Assist callers, sponsors, participants
Professionalism
- Provide extraordinary customer service
- Be courteous to all individuals at the desk and on the phone
- Attend all staff meetings, training sessions and scheduled desk hours
- Maintain proper attire and wear uniform provided during scheduled work hours
Resource
- Be prepared to answer questions for participants, counselors, sponsors, parents
- Be familiar with Housing policies and procedures and the university
- Inform Hall Manager and/or Associate Director, Housing Summer Programs of Housing violations
- Be able to respond appropriately in emergency situations
Administrative
- Complete timesheets according to University guidelines, submitting to Hall Managers for approval and submission to the Housing Summer Programs Office
- Attend weekly meetings and training sessions with Hall Manager
- Assist in the distribution of linens and bed making during scheduled Linen Crew hours
- Assist all participants with needs (i.e., carrying luggage); work with Graduation Weekend Housing
- Assist in the maintenance of area by picking up and disposing of trash, assisting custodial services when needed (during quick turn around times)
- Learn and become proficient in Tribuo and Picture Perfect
QUALIFICATIONS
- Maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or above at time of submission of application
- Lived in University Housing a minimum of one academic semester.
- Must be enrolled as a student in both the spring 2012 and fall 2012 semesters
- Required to live on campus from May-August
- Enjoy providing exemplary customer service
- Attend required training sessions
- Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Must consent to a criminal background check and National Sex Offender Registry check
