Graduation Housing Common Questions

The following are commonly asked questions regarding Graduation Housing.  If the question or information you are looking for is not below, please call the Housing Summer Programs office at 864-656-1111.


Reservations

When can I start making reservations for Graduation Weekend 2012? Reservations can be made through the online reservation link from October 2011 through April 15, 2012. See our Reservations page for the link.  Please remember that full payment is required at the time of your reservation in order for your request to be processed.

What is the reservation deadline? Reservations will be accepted as long as rooms are available and no later than April 15, 2012 at 4:30pm.  Although we cannot guarantee accommodations for your party, we will make every effort to meet your request. 

If I submitted a reservation form without payment, will space be held for me? No, groups interested in securing space for Graduation Weekend may only do so by paying for each individual listed on the reservation form in full at the time that the reservation is made.

What is included in the rate?  The rate for Graduation Weekend includes two nights' stay in a suited residence hall; a linen packet with one set of sheets, one lightweight blanket, one pillow, one washcloth and two towels; Friday morning breakfast buffet for four guests; and convenient on-campus parking.

Do you offer housing for guests with special needs?  Yes, the reservation form includes a question about handicapped accessible accommodations being needed.  Please indicate your need on the form and we will make appropriate arrangements. 

I have an uneven number of guests.  Will you place a stranger in the empty bed? No, it is our policy to house family members and friends as units.  In the event that you have an odd number of guests, the empty bed will be left unassigned.  This will not result in an additional charge.

Do you accept credit cards for payment?  Yes, Housing Summer Programs accepts Visa and MasterCard as payment in addition to personal checks.  If making payment by credit card, it must be made through the online reservation form.  If making payment by check, the student must complete the online registration form and send payment by mail postmarked no later than two weeks from the date of submitting the reservation request to this address:  Housing Summer Programs, University Housing, Box 344075, Clemson University, Clemson, SC 29634-4075.  Checks must note the student's name and CUID number.

May I write a check for the key security deposit? No, Housing Summer Programs can only accept a credit card at time of check-in for the key security deposit.  The credit card will only be charged if there are unreturned keys or access fobs. 

 

Changes and Cancellations

I need to add/remove/change guests to my reservation.  How can I do that? The graduating student must log-in to the online reservation form to make changes.  We cannot guarantee housing for additions once all rooms are reserved.

What if I have to cancel my reservation?  Will I receive a refund? Yes, if we receive your cancellation before 4:30pm on April 15, 2012.  We will deduct a $50.00 fee per four-person suite reserved.  The graduating student will need to cancel the reservation on the online registration form.  The Student Affairs Business Office will contact the student regarding the refund after cancellation has been completed online.  After 4:30 p.m. on April 15, 2012, no refunds will be given.

How will I receive my refund? After the graduating student has cancelled the reservation online, the Student Affairs Business Office will contact the student regarding the refund process.  Remember that all cancellations must be made online no later than 4:30 pm on April 15, 2012 in order to be honored.

Some members of my party want to come on Friday while everyone else is arriving on Thursday night. Should I complete separate reservation forms?  No, all members of your party must be registered together to be housed together, regardless of when they are arriving.

One person in my party is no longer coming, but I found someone else to take their spot.  What do I need to do?  The graduating student must complete the online registration form to make any changes to the reservation.  There is no charge for a substitution, but please let us know as soon as possible so that our records remain accurate.

General Questions

Do I need to bring my own bed linens and bath towels? No, Housing Summer Programs provides a linen packet for each guest as part of the Graduation Weekend package.  Each packet includes one set of sheets, one lightweight blanket, one pillow, one washcloth, and two bath towels.  Please remember to bring your own hangers and iron/ironing board as well as any toiletries!!!

Will my room be air-conditioned? Yes, all University Housing facilities are air-conditioned.

What are the bathrooms in the suites like? Each suite has one private bathroom. Please remember to bring your own shampoo, toothpaste, soap, and hair dryer.

Is smoking permitted in the rooms? No, there is no smoking allowed in any University residence hall.

Are pets allowed?  Pets are not allowed in any University Housing facilities.

What is the alcohol policy?  Alcohol is not allowed in Stadium Suites Residence Hall.

Checking-in

When and where do I check in and pick up my keys and access fobs?  The graduating student must come to the front desk in the Stadium Suites or McCabe lobby from 2:00pm-11:00pm on Thursday, May 10, 2012. The graduating student will receive an email prior to arrival with check-in instructions that will include which building to report to for check-in.

Who is allowed to pick up keys and access fobs from Housing Summer Programs? The graduating student is the ONLY person permitted to pick up the room keys at check-in.  This policy is a security measure to ensure everyone's safety, so please plan ahead and coordinate with your student, as we are unable to make any exceptions.

What will be needed at check-in? The graduating student will need to show their CU ID as well as complete a credit card form with a current valid credit card number and expiration date.  This form will be kept on file until all keys and access fobs are returned.
