IMPACT

IMPACT is a four-day experience where incoming freshmen and transfer students are met with the opportunity to explore leadership and community engagement.  Participants will spend time learning through community service, workshops, small group dialogue, a challenge course, reflection and interaction with campus leaders.  The vision of IMPACT is that incoming students engage with each other and the community to create a positive, sustainable change… making an impact on others.

IMPACT is held yearly, the week before the fall semester begins.

Students who participate in IMPACT will be able to:

• Engage themselves and others in meaningful service as demonstrated by completion of committee tasks and implementation of Make a Difference Day. (Civic Engagement)
• Identify their social identities and how they impact their world view as demonstrated by verbalizing identities through completing identity wheels and surveys. (Diversity Education)
• Engage in healthy relationships with diverse groups as demonstrated in their committee group outcomes, service group work, and interactions with community partners. (Diversity Education)
• Demonstrate self-efficacy and capacity to make positive sustainable change as demonstrated through self-reporting and group discussions. (Leadership)
• Develop friendships with peers.
• Discover Clemson campus resources that will facilitate an effective transition to college life.

2013 Program Dates:

Move-in: Monday, August 12

IMPACT Program: Tuesday, August 13 - Friday, August 16*

*IMPACT participants are required to attend all scheduled sessions each day.

IMPACT Schedule: A general schedule for IMPACT will be available this summer.

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR 2013 IMPACT FACILITATOR APPLICATIONS!

IMPACT Facilitators are crucial in planning the seminar and in creating a positive and meaningful experience for participants. Facilitators encourage participants to partake in all areas of seminar activities and provide a positive example for students and others. Facilitators assist with building community among participants through team building activities while ensuring participants have the tools they need to be successful. Six Facilitators will be chosen for the 2013 IMPACT session. 

Important things you should know:

-The application is online here and is due on March 15^th by 5pm

-Applicants are asked to schedule a 1:1 Informational session with a member of the IMPACT Vision Team before March 15^th.

-Facilitators are required to attend all training dates: Fri., August 9^th, Sat., August 10^th, and Mon., August 12^th

-Facilitators must be available for the entire seminar August 13^th-16^th
