New Tiger Commute Route Schedules Goes into Effect Tuesday, January 8, 2019

The Tiger Commute Route will resume operation on Monday, January 7, 2019 with peak service. On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, the REVISED spring semester schedule begins operation.

Before the break, Parking and Transportation Services conducted a survey and public meeting to discuss the challenges and successes of the Tiger Commute Route during the Fall semester. There was a lot of great feedback and involvement in this process that we incorporated into the revised schedule.

There are four primary factors that influenced the creation of the new schedule. The first is ridership travel needs. The results of the survey are indications of that. Realistic travel times in existing traffic conditions is also important. To account for continual construction delays, increasing traffic, and two major intersection projects on 153 in 2019, the travel time per direction is being increased to 1 hour 10 minutes. Lastly, budgetary constraints and resource constraints influence the schedule – we only have 4 vehicles that can be assigned to this route.

We appreciate all of the conversation and input into the process from everyone. In response to the resounding demand, the 4 PM departure from Clemson University has been added back to the schedule. Additionally, we have adjusted the arrival and departure times at Clemson University and CU-ICAR to improve the on-time performance and reliability of the route. While we have made these improvements, in order to stay within budget, we have aligned operating hours in accordance with ridership demand and usage. The 5:30 PM departure and 8:05 PM departure from Clemson University were removed from the schedule as they were the least two traveled runs out of the sixteen runs during the day. The last departure each day will be 6:30 PM from Clemson University and 7:40 PM form CU-ICAR. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause and will remain flexible and open to feedback.

We look forward to your continued support in using the Tiger Commute Route.
