Clemson University has two mailing permits available for departmental use:
- Permit #10 is available for mass mailings of a minimum of 200 pieces at a discounted rate for bulk, standard and first-class mail.
- Permit #10 is available for mass mailing of a minimum of 500 pieces at a discount rate for presort first-class.
- Permit #531 is a business reply permit for mailings requiring a response.
Requirements for using permits:
-
All mail pieces must weigh exactly the same.
-
You can only use Permit Imprints with bulk mailings. Be sure not to hand out imprinted materials with "Postage Paid" indicia, since they could be dropped in the mail and will come back to you with postage due.
-
Mail pieces must always be taken to the post office where you hold your permit and never dropped in a collection box or given to a carrier.
-
Do not draw by hand or type your permit indicia.
- If you're using an external mail service provider for your mailing, please contact University Mail Services in advance of mailing.
All permit postage and handling charges are billed back to using departments and are included on the monthly Mail Services postage statement. Failure to comply with permit requirements will incur additional fines from the United State Postal Service.
