Application Process
When you apply to the Clemson MBA, our advisers will design a curriculum for you. In doing so, we will consider three things.
- Your years of professional work experience
- Any prior business education
- The emphasis options that match your career interests.
Some of you may elect to pursue the MBA full time, but others of you who are working full time can choose to complete the program by taking classes part time in the evenings.
As is typical of MBA programs, the Clemson MBA is designed for students with a minimum of two years of post-undergraduate, professional work experience. We make some exceptions to the work experience standard for outstanding students with non-business undergraduate degrees, particularly those pursuing another graduate degree at Clemson.
Application Checklist
- A copy of your current resume.
- Official transcripts of all college-level work. International applicants must include official copies of transcripts in both their native language and in English. Clemson University graduates do not need to submit official transcripts of their undergraduate work. For consideration, you must have earned a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
- Two letters of recommendation. These can be in letter or e-mail form or submitted using the recommendation form.
- Official GMAT scores. To facilitate application processing, please include a copy of your unofficial GMAT scores with your application package. Information about the GMAT is available at www.mba.com. The GMAT program code for the full-time MBA is 504-FJ-40 and for the evening MBA is 504-FJ-17f.
Special Considerations Requiring Prior Approval (mba@clemson.edu): Under some circumstances, working professional/part-time MBA applicants with acceptable credentials may start the foundation courses in a non-degree status prior to completing the GMAT. Under some circumstances (e.g., dual degree application), an official GRE score may be provided in lieu of a GMAT score. With permission, MBA applicants who hold a PhD from an accredited institution may be allowed to waive the GMAT as an application requirement.
- An interview (full-time applicants only). For most full-time applicants whose credentials meet specified requirements, the MBA office will contact you and conduct a telephone interview to ensure compatibility with the program.
- Official TOEFL scores for international applicants whose native language is not English. The institution code for Clemson is 5111. (International working professionals already working in U.S. normally do not need to submit a TOEFL score).
- An electronic application.
- The non-refundable application fee indicated on the application.
- Proof of South Carolina residency, the GS35 form, if applicable.
- International Student Financial Certification Form, IA50 form (needed only for those international applicants who are applying to enter the U.S. and study full time on the Clemson campus).
